Purpose

'Sustained innovation is the key to future growth and prosperity in a competitive global economy... in order to energise schooling for innovation, a very high quality of educational leadership is required. Competent leaders who have a strong, clear vision, are determined, and have a capacity to inspire and move things forward will be in great demand' (Australian Government, Committee for the Review of Teaching and Teacher Education, 2003).

The Centre for Educational Leadership and Innovation has been created by Independent Schools Queensland as a strategic response to the challenges of the complex 21st century environment in which school leaders, teachers and students work.

The aim of the Centre is to

Provide opportunities for school boards, leaders, managers and educators at all levels to:

• Develop their leadership, management and governance skills
• Develop the capacity of their schools and school staff
• Access new ways of thinking and doing
• Gain exposure to experts
• Share innovative practices in education and leadership in the independent sector
